I've coached athletics at Hamilton Youth Club since 1996. Most of my players were between 8 and 18, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I keep a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
Hearing from old faces is the best part of my week.
More about Shirley
I still keep the team photo from our best season on the wall.
