Shankar M. Hegde
Master of thatching, now teaching apprentices
- 🇮🇳 Thane, Maharashtra, India
- Thane Workshop
- Since 1999
- English, French
I've worked in thatching since 1999. I learned from my grandmother and passed what I could on to 1,460 apprentices.
Apprentices come in nervous and leave proud. That's my favorite part. I try to remember everyone's name.
Hearing from old faces is the best part of my week.
More about Shankar
Some of my old apprentices now run their own shops. I couldn't be prouder.
