I've worked in welding from 1999 to 2019. I learned from my aunt and passed what I could on to 1,060 apprentices.
The best compliment I ever got was a customer who called me back 20 years later for another job.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.
More about Shafiq
Some of my old apprentices now run their own shops. I couldn't be prouder.
Crafts and trades
What gifts mean to Shafiq: I'd put gifts toward a new set of tools for the next apprentice.
