Seyi Ikenna Akinwale
Master of blacksmithing, now teaching apprentices
- 🇳🇬 Kano, Kano, Nigeria
- Little Kano Shop
- 2017 to 2025
- English
I've worked in blacksmithing from 2017 to 2025. I learned from my grandfather and passed what I could on to 240 apprentices.
Apprentices come in nervous and leave proud. That's my favorite part. I try to remember everyone's name.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.
More about Seyi
Some of my old apprentices now run their own shops. I couldn't be prouder.
Crafts and trades
What gifts mean to Seyi: I'd put gifts toward a new set of tools for the next apprentice.
