Sérgio Sebastião Batista

Self-taught woodcarving artist

  • 🇧🇷 Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil
  • 1988 to 2024
  • Portuguese
I work mostly in woodcarving, sometimes printmaking. My first show was in 1988 at Old Baobab Pottery, and nobody came except my family and one confused dog. I carry a notebook everywhere. My studio is always a bit of a mess. I'm proud of everyone I got to work with.

More about Sérgio

I've had 14 small exhibitions over the years. My favorite was the one with the worst lighting.

What gifts mean to Sérgio: A gift would go toward materials for my next series.
