I teach home economics at Tokyo Boys' School in Tokyo since 1980. Most days I teach Grade 4, and I never raise my voice. Over the years I've had 2,710 students pass through my room. A few of them became teachers themselves, which still makes me smile. I'm still learning every day.

What gifts mean to Ryota: Honestly the messages mean more, but a gift would help me buy supplies for my new classroom.

You taught me home economics in 1987 at Tokyo Boys' School. I still remember the cold winter when we all kept our coats on. Truly.

You taught me home economics in 2006 at Tokyo Boys' School. I still remember the day the fire alarm went off during the exam.
