Rowan M. Barker
Teacher at Knoxville Boys' School, loves home economics
- 🇺🇸 Knoxville, Tennessee, United States
- Knoxville Boys' School
- Since 2011
- English
I came to teaching late, after working as a night-shift cleaner, and 15 years later I still can't imagine doing anything else.
Outside the classroom I paint watercolors of whatever is outside the window. Inside it, I write a short note to every student at the end of term.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
More about Rowan
The students I remember best weren't always the top of the class. They were the ones who asked "why?" when nobody else did.

What gifts mean to Rowan: Honestly the messages mean more, but a gift would help me buy supplies for my new classroom.

You taught me home economics in 2019 at Knoxville Boys' School. I still remember the quiz night we nearly won. Truly.
