I taught geography at Eastgate High School in Los Angeles from 1993 to 2003. Most days I taught first-year students, and I kept a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
Over the years I had 470 students pass through my room. A few of them became teachers themselves, which still makes me smile.

What gifts mean to Rowan: Honestly the messages mean more, but a gift would help me buy supplies for my new classroom.
