Rita Sarah Opoku
Embroidery and sculpture artist
- 🇬🇭 Tamale, Northern, Ghana
- 1987 to 1998
- English
I work mostly in embroidery, sometimes sculpture. My first show was in 1987 at Tamale Studio, and nobody came except my family and one confused dog.
Most of my work is inspired by my grandmother's kitchen. I walk the dog by the river.
I'm proud of everyone I got to work with.
More about Rita
I've had 14 small exhibitions over the years. My favorite was the one with the worst lighting.

What gifts mean to Rita: I'd put a gift toward a kiln repair. It's been a long time coming.
