I coached baseball at São Paulo Youth Club from 1978 to 2002. Most of my players were between 11 and 16, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I stayed late on Thursdays for anyone who needed it.
Hearing from old faces is the best part of my week.
What gifts mean to Renata: I'll put any gifts toward a small fund so no child misses a match because of money.
