Ren Shota Taniguchi

Shoemaking, done properly

  • 🇯🇵 Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan
  • Old Fairview Shop
  • Since 1999
  • Japanese, English
I've worked in shoemaking since 1999. I learned from my grandfather and passed what I could on to 570 apprentices. Apprentices come in nervous and leave proud. That's my favorite part. I take the work seriously, though not myself. I'm proud of everyone I got to work with.

What gifts mean to Ren: A gift would go toward tools for apprentices who can't afford their own.
