I spent 27 years as a lecturer in astronomy at Ribeirão Preto University in Ribeirão Preto. I loved the lecture hall and loved office hours even more.
I learned every name in the first week. It sounds small, but students remember small things.
What gifts mean to Prof. Siqueira: I'd put a gift toward a student bursary.
