My subject is nursing, and for 26 years I get to share it with undergraduates at Lakeview Institute of Technology.
I'm happiest when a student comes to office hours with a question that makes me rethink something I've said for years. I paint watercolors of whatever is outside the window.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
More about Prof. Álvarez
Some of my favorite days were field trips that went spectacularly wrong.
