Payal A. Chauhan
Master of pottery, now teaching apprentices
- 🇮🇳 Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India
- The Phoenix Works
- Since 2007
- English, Hindi
I've worked in pottery since 2007. I learned from my aunt and passed what I could on to 700 apprentices.
I can still tell good work from rushed work from across the street. I'm always reading two books at once.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
Crafts and trades
What gifts mean to Payal: I'd put gifts toward a new set of tools for the next apprentice.
