Paul Joseph Mutua
Sculpture and oil painting artist
- 🇺🇬 Mukono, Central Region, Uganda
- Old Mukono Gallery
- 1987 to 2017
- English, Swahili
I work mostly in sculpture, sometimes oil painting. My first show was in 1987 at Old Mukono Gallery, and nobody came except my family and one confused dog.
Most of my work is inspired by folk tales I grew up with. I'm always reading two books at once.
More about Paul
I've had 6 small exhibitions over the years. My favorite was the one with the worst lighting.
What gifts mean to Paul: I'd put a gift toward a kiln repair. It's been a long time coming.

A small gift is a big thank-you.
