Owen Estrada
Special education and geography teacher, Oakland
- 🇺🇸 Oakland, California, United States
- Oakland Academy
- Since 1999
- English, Spanish
For 27 years I have been the special education teacher at Oakland Academy. I teach Grade 11 and a few brave older students who wanted extra help.
Outside the classroom I volunteer at the food bank on Saturdays. Inside it, I write a short note to every student at the end of term.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.
More about Owen
If you were in my Grade 11 class, you probably remember the cold winter when we all kept our coats on.

What gifts mean to Owen: A gift would go toward books and supplies for the students I still tutor.
