I play brass band and traditional drumming. I started in 1981 with a secondhand instrument and a lot of stubbornness. I teach about 14 students a week. Some of them are better than me now, which is the whole point. I'm always reading two books at once.

What gifts mean to Omar: A gift would go toward new strings, repairs and music for my students.
