Nuwan Mahesh Nanayakkara
Master of blacksmithing, now teaching apprentices
- 🇱🇰 Kandy, Central, Sri Lanka
- Little Kandy Repairs
- 1996 to 2013
- English, Sinhala
My trade is blacksmithing. I opened my own shop in 1996 in Kandy and I'm still there most mornings.
I can still tell good work from rushed work from across the street. I volunteer at the food bank on Saturdays.
I'm still learning every day.
More about Nuwan
Some of my old apprentices now run their own shops. I couldn't be prouder.
Crafts and trades
What gifts mean to Nuwan: I'd put gifts toward a new set of tools for the next apprentice.
