Nahom Dereje Abate
Midwife and nurse, Bahir Dar
- 🇪🇹 Bahir Dar, Amhara, Ethiopia
- Heritage Community Hospital
- 1987 to 2020
- English, Amharic
I've been a nurse for 33 years, most of them in midwifery at Heritage Community Hospital in Bahir Dar. Night shifts taught me patience, and patients taught me everything else.
I take the work seriously, though not myself. Small things matter when someone is frightened.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
Areas of care
What gifts mean to Nahom: I'd put gifts toward a training course in palliative care.
