Mwende Samuel Onyango

Painter, potter and teacher at Maple Ridge Gallery

🇺🇬 Mbale, Eastern Region, Uganda
Maple Ridge Gallery
2005 to 2020
English, Swahili

I work mostly in oil painting, sometimes illustration. My first show was in 2005 at Maple Ridge Gallery, and nobody came except my family and one confused dog. Most of my work is inspired by markets and street scenes. I sing in a choir.

More about Mwende

If you've bought a piece of mine, thank you. It's on someone's wall and that still amazes me.

Mediums

Oil painting

What gifts mean to Mwende: I'd put a gift toward a kiln repair. It's been a long time coming.
