I taught special education at Northside Grammar School in Jeddah from 2007 to 2017. Most days I taught Year 9, and I kept a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
Over the years I had 280 students pass through my room. A few of them became teachers themselves, which still makes me smile.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.

Some of my favorite memories are from the school trip to the national park, where nothing went to plan and everything turned out fine.
