I've been a nurse for 17 years, most of them in mental health at Our Lady of Peace Children's Hospital in Kampala. Night shifts taught me patience, and patients taught me everything else.
I'm usually the first one in and the last to leave. Small things matter when someone is frightened.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.
