Ms. Varma
Chemistry and economics teacher, Salem

- Stonebridge Boys' School
- 2008 to 2018
- English, Tamil
I came to teaching late, after working as a waiter, and ten years later I still can't imagine doing anything else.
Outside the classroom I paint watercolors of whatever is outside the window. Inside it, I stayed late on Thursdays for anyone who needed it.
What gifts mean to Ms. Varma: A gift would go toward books and supplies for the students I still tutor.

I'm a social worker now and I honestly think it started in your classroom. Greetings from Paarl.

You taught me chemistry in 2012 at Stonebridge Boys' School. I still remember the day we all got the giggles in assembly.
