I taught design and technology at Queensway Technical College in Hialeah from 1996 to 2020. Most days I taught the youngest children, and I always had a bag of oranges in my drawer.
Over the years I had 480 students pass through my room. A few of them became teachers themselves, which still makes me smile.
More about Ms. Mejia
The students I remember best weren't always the top of the class. They were the ones who asked "why?" when nobody else did.
