Ms. Lopez
Art and environmental science teacher, Manukau
- 🇳🇿 Manukau, Auckland, New Zealand
- Manukau Grammar School
- Since 1995
- English
I came to teaching late, after working as a night-shift cleaner, and 31 years later I still can't imagine doing anything else.
Outside the classroom I make terrible puns. Inside it, I keep a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.
More about Ms. Lopez
The students I remember best weren't always the top of the class. They were the ones who asked "why?" when nobody else did.

What gifts mean to Ms. Lopez: A gift would go toward books and supplies for the students I still tutor.

You taught me art in 2024 at Manukau Grammar School. I still remember the volcano experiment that got a bit out of hand.
