I taught economics at Riverside High School in Zanzibar City from 2003 to 2023. Most days I taught the youngest children, and I always had a bag of oranges in my drawer.
Over the years I had 1,080 students pass through my room. A few of them became teachers themselves, which still makes me smile.
More about Ms. Karanja
Some of my favorite memories are from the school trip to the capital, where nothing went to plan and everything turned out fine.

What gifts mean to Ms. Karanja: If you do send something, I'll put it toward a small scholarship for a student who needs it.
