Ms. Gutiérrez
28 years teaching English literature in Bronx
- 🇺🇸 Bronx, New York, United States
- Silverlake Secondary School
- 1999 to 2025
- English, Spanish
I came to teaching late, after working as a postal worker, and 26 years later I still can't imagine doing anything else.
I coached the school's volleyball team for a few seasons. We lost more than we won, and I'd do it all again.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
More about Ms. Gutiérrez
The students I remember best weren't always the top of the class. They were the ones who asked "why?" when nobody else did.

What gifts mean to Ms. Gutiérrez: A gift would go toward books and supplies for the students I still tutor.
