I taught physical education at Westbrook Boys' School in Bellevue from 1994 to 2020. Most days I taught first-year students, and I kept a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
Over the years I had 860 students pass through my room. A few of them became teachers themselves, which still makes me smile.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.
