I taught environmental science at San Diego Public School in San Diego from 1984 to 2017. Most days I taught primary school children, and I kept a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
Over the years I had 1,090 students pass through my room. A few of them became teachers themselves, which still makes me smile.

What gifts mean to Mrs. Obrien: Honestly the messages mean more, but a gift would help me buy supplies for my new classroom.
