I taught geography at Stellenbosch Girls' School in Stellenbosch from 1986 to 2002. Most days I taught Grade 8, and I wrote a short note to every student at the end of term.
Over the years I had 320 students pass through my room. A few of them became teachers themselves, which still makes me smile.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.
