I came to teaching late, after working as a night-shift cleaner, and 22 years later I still can't imagine doing anything else. I've coached the school's cross-country squad for a few seasons. We lost more than we won, and I'd do it all again. Hearing from old faces is the best part of my week.

More about Mrs. Lacerda

Some of my favorite memories are from the school trip to the capital, where nothing went to plan and everything turned out fine.
