I taught special education at Crown Boys' School in Nairobi from 1978 to 1991. Most days I taught Grade 11, and I learned every name in the first week.
Over the years I had 570 students pass through my room. A few of them became teachers themselves, which still makes me smile.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.
