Mrs. Govender
English literature and physical education teacher, Soweto
- 🇿🇦 Soweto, Gauteng, South Africa
- Gateway Academy
- Since 2000
- English, Afrikaans
I teach English literature at Gateway Academy in Soweto since 2000. Most days I teach the final-year class, and my door is open at lunch.
Over the years I've had 620 students pass through my room. A few of them became teachers themselves, which still makes me smile.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.
More about Mrs. Govender
Teaching changed me more than I changed anyone, I think.

I failed English literature twice before you. After you I passed with a B. Thank you. Greetings from Vadodara.

You taught me English literature in 2017 at Gateway Academy. I still remember the long bus ride home. Thank you again.
