For 19 years I was the physical education teacher at São Paulo Primary School. I taught teenagers and a few brave older students who wanted extra help. My classroom was always a bit noisy, a bit untidy and usually full of people who came for the biscuits. I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.

What gifts mean to Mrs. Figueiredo: If you do send something, I'll put it toward a small scholarship for a student who needs it.
