I taught chemistry at St. Anne's Secondary School in Jakarta from 1985 to 2021. Most days I taught the youngest children, and I kept a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
I coached the school's football team for a few seasons. We lost more than we won, and I'd do it all again.
More about Mrs. Effendi
The students I remember best weren't always the top of the class. They were the ones who asked "why?" when nobody else did.
