I taught special education at St. Anne's Technical College in San Jose from 1980 to 1993. Most days I taught Grade 4, and I kept a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
Outside the classroom I garden badly but happily. Inside it, I kept a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
