I taught social studies at St. Mary's Boys' School in Cincinnati from 2008 to 2017. Most days I taught Grade 8, and I kept a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
My classroom was always a bit noisy, a bit untidy and usually full of people who came for the biscuits.
