I taught English literature at New York Secondary School in New York from 2000 to 2009. Most days I taught teenagers, and I wrote a short note to every student at the end of term.
Over the years I had 430 students pass through my room. A few of them became teachers themselves, which still makes me smile.

What gifts mean to Mr. Perez: A gift would go toward books and supplies for the students I still tutor.
