I teach mathematics and special education at Heritage Girls' School, San Diego. I keep a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
Over the years I've had 1,620 students pass through my room. A few of them became teachers themselves, which still makes me smile.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.

What gifts mean to Mr. Navarro: Honestly the messages mean more, but a gift would help me buy supplies for my new classroom.
