Mr. Mendez
Art teacher at San Diego Grammar School, 1983 to 1995

I taught art at San Diego Grammar School in San Diego from 1983 to 1995. Most days I taught Year 9, and I always had a bag of oranges in my drawer.
I coached the school's cross-country squad for a few seasons. We lost more than we won, and I'd do it all again.
Hearing from old faces is the best part of my week.
More about Mr. Mendez
The students I remember best weren't always the top of the class. They were the ones who asked "why?" when nobody else did.

What gifts mean to Mr. Mendez: Honestly the messages mean more, but a gift would help me buy supplies for my new classroom.
