I came to teaching late, after working as a farmhand, and 32 years later I still can't imagine doing anything else.
Outside the classroom I garden badly but happily. Inside it, I write a short note to every student at the end of term.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.

Some of my favorite memories are from the school trip to the old fort, where nothing went to plan and everything turned out fine.
