I teach English literature at Elmwood Secondary School in Jacksonville since 1987. Most days I teach the final-year class, and I never raise my voice.
Over the years I've had 1,990 students pass through my room. A few of them became teachers themselves, which still makes me smile.
More about Mr. Hayes
The students I remember best weren't always the top of the class. They were the ones who asked "why?" when nobody else did.
