Mr. Hamid
Mathematics and religious studies teacher, Heliopolis
- 🇪🇬 Heliopolis, Cairo, Egypt
- Silverlake Primary School
- 1978 to 1992
- English, Arabic
I taught mathematics at Silverlake Primary School in Heliopolis from 1978 to 1992. Most days I taught mixed-ability classes, and I learned every name in the first week.
Over the years I had 600 students pass through my room. A few of them became teachers themselves, which still makes me smile.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.
More about Mr. Hamid
Teaching changed me more than I changed anyone, I think.

What gifts mean to Mr. Hamid: A gift would go toward books and supplies for the students I still tutor.
