27 years teaching art in Bakersfield

For 47 years I have been the art teacher at Bakersfield Secondary School. I teach the final-year class and a few brave older students who wanted extra help.
Over the years I've had 990 students pass through my room. A few of them became teachers themselves, which still makes me smile.
More about Mr. Chavez
The students I remember best weren't always the top of the class. They were the ones who asked "why?" when nobody else did.

What gifts mean to Mr. Chavez: If you do send something, I'll put it toward a small scholarship for a student who needs it.
