I taught early years at Istanbul High School in Istanbul from 1983 to 2007. Most days I taught mixed-ability classes, and I answered every email, even at midnight.
I ran the choir after school and some of my proudest moments happened there. I paint watercolors of whatever is outside the window.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.

What gifts mean to Mr. Çakır: Honestly the messages mean more, but a gift would help me buy supplies for my new classroom.
