I taught social studies at Gateway High School in Jacksonville from 1979 to 2014. Most days I taught Grade 6, and I kept a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
Over the years I had 1,050 students pass through my room. A few of them became teachers themselves, which still makes me smile.
Hearing from old faces is the best part of my week.
