For 40 years I have been the English literature teacher at Milan Middle School. I teach the final-year class and a few brave older students who wanted extra help. I've coached the school's athletics team for a few seasons. We lost more than we won, and I'd do it all again. It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.

What gifts mean to Mr. Bernardi: If you do send something, I'll put it toward a small scholarship for a student who needs it.
