Miss Chávez
History and mathematics teacher, Seattle
- 🇺🇸 Seattle, Washington, United States
- Seattle Public School
- 2006 to 2018
- English, Spanish
I came to teaching late, after working as a postal worker, and twelve years later I still can't imagine doing anything else.
Outside the classroom I paint watercolors of whatever is outside the window. Inside it, I kept a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
Hearing from old faces is the best part of my week.
More about Miss Chávez
The students I remember best weren't always the top of the class. They were the ones who asked "why?" when nobody else did.

What gifts mean to Miss Chávez: A gift would go toward books and supplies for the students I still tutor.
