I taught home economics at Crown Academy in Sheffield from 1979 to 1994. Most days I taught teenagers, and I never turned anyone away.
Over the years I had 660 students pass through my room. A few of them became teachers themselves, which still makes me smile.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.
