My subject is modern history, and for nine years I got to share it with undergraduates at London College.
I'm happiest when a student comes to office hours with a question that makes me rethink something I've said for years. I watch every football match going.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
What gifts mean to Miles: Gifts will go to a small travel fund for students presenting their first paper.
